Crystal Beach, TX

Pictures are working today so here are some I couldn't get up before.
This is the large pond here and on the other side you can see the RV's. There is an island in the middle. The walk around the pond makes a nice way to exercise the dogs. .... and me.
This is an oil drilling platform off Crystal Beach. On the foggy days only the top was visible.

This is an exotic looking duck who lives near the pond. Last year there were 12 ducks, this year there are 46. The manager took a boat out to the little island and collected over 40 eggs to prevent there being 100 ducks next year. I doubt if it will work, they will just lay more eggs. Is there such a thing as duck birth control? Maybe a duck season would work better.

I did laundry this morning in a small trailer this campground provides. When the wind blew the sides of the trailer flexed and sounded like major thunder. It took me a while to figure out what the sound was. My RV is rocking with the wind today.

I am moving tomorrow to a campground without WIFI so I won't be posting until next week. I am concerned about the quality of the water here and plan to flush my fresh water system. That job has been a challange in the past. We will see how it goes this time.

Crystal Beach, TX

I was able to upload a video to www.youtube.com today. I tried to do another one and it didn't go. I tried to put a link on here to it but I got a message about Html not being right So go to youtube and search on katbulue if you want to see it.

Pictures won't upload again tonight. I tried carrying my computer over to the porch of the office and the connection was no better.

The beach was peaceful today compared to yesterday. Silly got sick and was polite enough to go outside to upchuck in the sand. Red wasn't so polite - she got the side of the driver's seat and the seat belt. Don't know what was wrong. The other two dogs didn't get sick but I didn't feel so great myself. I filled the fresh water tank yesterday. I asked at the office if the water was safe to drink. The woman said she drank bottled water while she was here but she was sure the water was fine. Right.

I had planned to stay a couple extra days but maybe not.

Crystal Beach, TX

This is the local general store. It doesn't look much like a general store. They sell souviniers, gas, groceries and just about anything else you can imagine including beach parking permits, which is what I bought. As you can see it was very foggy this morning.

The birds did not mind the fog. They are hard to see, there is one long legged one on the beach and another in the air.

Not all the sights at the beach were as inspiring as the fog and the birds.
It was a very busy at the beach today, since it was a warm week-end day. People were fishing, playing volley ball and baseball (with a tennis ball and a board for a bat), there were wave runners (like snowmobiles but for the water) golf carts, cars, trucks, and dogs.
Scooby had a meltdown and got tied to the RV while I walked the other dogs. Later we were inside the RV and he went off the deep end about a dog walking by. I held him down until he calmed down. I have decided to give him back to the rescue people when I get home. I watched the Dog Whisperer and heard him say that a dog with an obsession is harder to fix than a dog with a bad habit. Scooby has too many obsessions for me to handle.
I took the dogs one at a time to let them walk in the edge of the water. They weren't excited about the waves but got their feet and legs wet. I even sat in a lawn chair and sunned my feet for a while. We will probably go back tomorrow as the weather is supposed to be really nice. It is supposed to turn colder on Tuesday. I've got to use the beach pass to get my $5.00 worth out of it.
I had left my seashells on my picnic table while I was gone, when I got back one was missing. I should have learned with my rocks in Arkansas. I think I know who took it and I gave her the evil eye when she walked by a few minutes ago. I'm sure she is upset about that - not.

Crystal Beach, TX

It looks like there will be no pictures tonight. Either blogspot or my connection has a problem. Didn't have anything special anyway. I was just thinking about getting stuck on the beach yesterday. The soft sand was a lot like snow.

Scooby made another escape this morning. He tore apart his backpack which was one of the more successful methods of controlling him. The rest of us walked back to the RV with an occasional glimpse of him romping in a nearby field. I was just starting out with his leash and some dog treats to try to catch him and when I saw him looking at a nearby RV a lot like this one. He got all the exercise he needed for once. I think there will have to be seperate walks for him apart from the other dogs. That means I get a lot more exercise. It also means the other dogs will get some of my attention instead of it all going to the bad dog.

It was a beautiful day after a chilly night. Maybe tomorrow I'll get up the energy to go to the beach.

This picture is the Galveston skyline from Crystal Beach. I only realized it could be seen from here today. I had a couple of other pictures to put on but that feature seems to have stopped working.

One of the pictures was of some marks in the sand showing where I got stuck for a while. I whipped out my shovel and a nice man helped me smooth out the sand behind my wheels and I was out in no time. The answer is - stay on the dark sand as it is hard enough to drive on.

We walked for a couple of hours and picked up some shells. Scooby tried jumping straight up in an effort to catch a seagull. The other dogs walked calmly along sniffing at stuff on the beach.

Then a quick stop at the touristy food store - bananas at 59 cents/lb - gas at $3.19/gal. - and picked up some cold cuts and crackers. I will try to stay away from there.

We may go to the beach again tomorrow. It seems there is a beach pass required for parking on the beach. Maybe I should get one before going again.

Crystal Beach, TX

You know it's going to be a bad day when you start to brush your teeth and you drop them - twice. Then you reach for your can of soda and spill it, partly on your computer keyboard. Then there are 4 dogs between you and the paper towels. Time for a nap.

It's been that kind of day. Rain off and on and clouds all the time.

We took a dog walk past some cows in the nearby field and Scooby didn't have a meltdown about it. He just whimpered a little. Then one cow mooed at us and he got real quiet. We have to stay on the gravel roads as there are a lot of sand spurs and burrs in the grass. Even Red is asking me to pick the burrs out of her feet, that's a first. Normally she gets them out herself.

We chatted with some people who have been here a while and they have a great collection of seashells. They also have a lot of beach glass. They drill holes in it with a dremel tool. Tomorrow we may go to the beach.

There is no limit to how many people can be on the internet here. Last year they had someone steal their password and then he changed the password so they couldn't get on and he could. So now the password is changed everyday at noontime. I go to the office at noontime and get the new password. The connection says it is "low" and it's a little slow but it is working.

Crystal Beach, TX

This is the scene out my front window. The ducks came running to see if I would feed them. They soon turned around and went the other way when the dogs barked at them. They didn't go far, tho. There is a small lake - or maybe a large pond - just beyond the palm tree. They can escape easily. We took a nice long walk around it as soon as I got set up. There is cable TV here so I am enjoying that while it rains this afternoon.

My license plate sticker has arrived. In fact two stickers arrived. The state of Ohio is dependable, it's the post office that isn't. I guess I could put one of them on the front plate.
My Granddaughter got her drivers license yesterday. She called to let me know. I congratulate her. She is a good careful driver.
I will be here for a week and hope for some sunny days to go to the beach. I don't mind the rain when I hear about the snow happening in Ohio.

Winnie, TX

Toto has decided to play with toys now that he is feeling at home. As of today he has one of the knots untied and there are strings all over the place. He is persistent.

This is the Taco Bell's drive-thru. Poor planning on someone's part. It is actually down a few inches as you couldn't see the tops of the curbs right after in rained.

Thought I should show a picture of a nice sky after the scary one I put on here a few days ago.

I have mail!!!!! I called the post office this morning and they say I have mail. I will pick it up tomorrow on my way out of town.

I have had some sort of stomach bug yesterday and today but am feeling better tonight. Could be something I ate. A little chicken noodle cup-0-soup works wonders.

I am heading down the coast only about 35 miles to Crystal Beach. I stayed there last year for a while and enjoyed it. The WIFI may be inconsistant there. They said something about picking up a card at the office each day to get an internet connection that day. Since my "alarm clocks" get me up at 7:00 a.m. each day I should have no problem being first in line for that WIFI card.

Sunny Winnie, Texas

"Are you ever going to feed me?" asks Toto. He barked at the neighbors today. He has woofed when the water dish was empty and I have heard some strange noises but this was his first actual bark. I think he is feeling at home. Sometimes when he is on the bed he makes a noise like purring which I think is his growl - trying to keep the other dogs off "his" bed. When I realized what he was doing I stopped him.

This is my webcam. It perches on top of the laptop screen.

Today was beautiful after a night of storms. At one point the wind was frighteningly strong. It came from the side and really rocked the RV. I was grateful for a warm dry place to be. None of my windows leaked like they did last year. The RV repair place did a good job last summer.

We took lots of walks and had a nap this afternoon to make up for staying up late due to tornado watches and warnings. The drive-thru at the Taco Bell place near here is full of water, curb to curb. Cars make waves when they drive in it. A week ago they had it pumped out.

Tomorrow will be a holiday at the post office so I'll have to wait till Tuesday to agravate them.

Winnie, Texas

No mail again today. They know me at the post office. They said "We are watching for your mail since..........." I filled in her thought with "I've been a pest?" So I'm still here. If it hasn't arrived by Monday I will call Ohio Dept of Transportation again and make sure they sent it.

We had a relaxing day. This evening it is raining a little. Tomorrow night it is supposed to be really nasty.

Apparently the Texas primary is coming up soon as the local TV is polluted with political ads. It seems we've been electing a president for years.

I enjoyed an instant message chat with Amy last night. And I got to see my daughter and grandson on their webcam. I got a little homesick -- but I got over it.

Winnie, Texas

A day of relaxation apart from a little cleaning. That is a forever job. As my sister pointed out there are 18 feet tracking bits of grass into this RV.

There was no mail at the post office today so I guess I will stay in this area a while longer hoping to get legal. Next year I will do this differently. I was kind of distracted when I was getting ready to leave home and didn't get my license plate sticker before I left. I just need to get my priorities straight.

More dog walking lessons with a tiny bit of improvement. When we walk Silly and Red's leashes are looped over my arm and I never have to worry about where they are or what they are doing. They watch me to see where I'm going and always stay with me. Toto likes to walk on the other side from the other dogs and is not a problem either.

Then there is Scooby. If he is wearing a backpack with a water bottle in each pocket and a pronged choke chain on his neck I can keep him from lungeing ahead or this way or that but the leash is wound around my hand twice and is tight all the time. When we get back to the RV his leash is tangled with Silly and Red's, sometimes almost braided. When I walk just him he is much better. I have started taking him out alone and when I call his name, if he looks at me I give him a tiny treat. When I first got him I was teaching him to sit by giving a treat when he obeyed. So he figured he could bound into the room -skid into a sit - and demand a treat. I should have known then who he thought was in charge.

Poor Silly has some scraped spots from her grooming and has been licking them all day. The other dogs weren't sure who she was after her bath, she smelled so good.

I'm enjoying my webcam. I chatted with my niece, Megan, last night and got to see her and my great nephew, Zach. Then I had a computer to computer phone call with my sister, Linda.

The only thing on my schedule right now is meeting up with Linda and Bob the first 2 weeks in March. So I guess I can wait a few days here to see if the post office can get it's act together.

Winnie, TX

The first thing this morning we went to the local vets office to get Silly groomed and bathed. The road to the vets ended at this beautiful iron gate to a horse farm. They seemed to be training horses there.

After dropping her off we went on to the grocery store, then the laundromat, and then the post office. No mail today. No sticker for my license plate. I am now illegal. The sticker says 2-08 but since my birthday it is now expired. I hope Texas doesn't know I already had the birthday. If the sticker doesn't come this week I am going to dab some mud on the sticker and move on. Do you think that will work?

This is a groomed poodle. She knows she is beautiful. They always say she is so good for them. When I try to work on getting hair out of her ears it is a battle to get her to hold still. They cut all the hair off her feet and between her toes so she won't get so many burrs stuck in her feet.

Scooby picked up a stick today. He was chewing it and broke it in two. I was afraid he was going to eat it like he did the pecan. I tried to take it away from him and he growled at me. I rolled his lip over his teeth and applied all the pressure I could but no deal. I don't think he feels pain. I finally pried his jaws apart without getting bitten. Maybe he thought we were playing but I didn't feel that way. I'm not sure I have the energy to deal with him.

Tomorrow is vacuum day.

Winnie, Texas

This afternoon we had a thunder storm with wind and hail. I guess later on east of here there were some tornados.

This morning we started out bright and early headed for Beaumont and a thrift store. We arrived at 9:30 which isn't hard to do when your 4 legged alarms clocks go off at 6:00 a.m. We were an hour early so we sat in the parking lot and read a book for an hour. They had paperback books at 35 cents, hardbacks for $1.00 so I got several. I also found a pair of rubber boots that fit just right. Now I can squish around without getting my sneakers wet. Also got a small bag of buttons that need some cleaning but look really old.
The trip was uneventful except that my GPS expected me to cross 3 lanes of traffic in about 300 feet and then tried to get me back on track by sending me down a dead end street. I just love to turn this 23 foot thing around in someone's driveway. I only had to get out 3 times to check if I was okay. It's wonderful when it works, just like all these modern conveniences.

Winnie, TX

It may now be revealed where I am in Texas. I think the people who were looking for me knew already anyway. Today I am old. There really aught to be more than 2 years between 68 and 70.

Today I took a nap and then found a place to groom Silly on Wednesday. Then I called the POST OFFICE. I asked if there was any mail for me in general delivery, they said "NO". I asked how long a package from Illinois should take to arrive if it was mailed a week ago Sat. She said "oh, a package, yes, there is a package for you". I didn't yell, I didn't scream - I wanted to but I didn't. I just went to the post office and got my package. It was the webcam that I got on ebay. I spent a couple of hours installing it and getting onto Yahoo messenger. Then I contacted my sister and we had a nice long conversation while looking at one another. She even called me, computer to computer, no phone numbers involved, for free. I'm hoping to contact my daughter this evening.

Even an OLD LADY can learn new stuff. Now I can (must I?) look at myself while I am on the computer.

Tomorrow may be a trip to find a thrift store in Beaumont.

Texas Trade Days

I thought somone was monkeying around with my stuff and sure nuff there he was climbing the table cover.

Talk about a dog's life, looks pretty plush to me.

Today was another beautiful day. Trade Days is kind of like having company, you look forward to it and then you look forward to it being over. I sold a lot of small stuff and even sold one of my denim jackets. The best sales on those was at the RV park in Fredericksburg when all the ladies competed with one another to get one. They gave line dancing classes there. All my stuff fits easily into my totes now. Whooopeee.

I used my can of air to blow some of the dust off the showcases and had to wipe down everything before it could be put away. Then I took a shower to wash off a layer or two of dust. Now I have to figure out how to get the taste of dust out of my mouth. I'm trying beer right now.

I made a purchase today of an outdoor rug, one of those that isn't supposed to kill the grass under it. It cost $36.00 which is a whole lot better than any other price I have found. Of course, it is the smallest size but my RV is small.

Tomorrow we rest up and find a more comfortable spot. Also need to look for a dog groomer, Silly is getting shaggy, and bug the post office.

Texas Trade Days

Now that's a hood ornament.
All set up and ready to go. If you look closely you can see Silly in the passenger window.

This is my bungie-jug-hold-down contraption. It worked yesterday. Today I didn't need it.

This poor little guy didn't feel good but they brought him anyway. Being a super salesperson I sold them a neck pillow for him. Relatively speaking this was another good day. The weather was beautiful and the people came. That is relative to days when it is cold and nasty out. My paper back books are really down. I need to find a thrift store to resupply them.

I am worn out and the dogs are pretty stressed. One of them threw up on a throw rug in the RV. I don't know who. I did take them out one at a time and let them sit with me for a while. Everytime I took a different dog out Toto managed to get out and plaster himself to the ground in hopes of staying out. Luckily he is small enough I can pick him up and put him back inside. He got his turn but that is all. They may get a longer night time walk as the 5:00 walk was short. The parking area where I walk them was still full of cars. I closed up anyway as I hadn't made a sale in an hour or so. Tomorrow is another day.

Texas Trade Days

I took pictures today, even took a video, but they aren't going to be on here. I forgot to put the memory card back in the camera yesterday so the stuff I took today is on the permanent memory of the camera. I can only get it onto the computer with a cable which is in Ohio. I'll try again tomorrow. I have a feeling the wind will blow again tomorrow so I can get more pictures of the wind things whirling. The wind blew my clothing rack over onto the ground so I got creative. I took a gallon jug of water and a bungy cord and tied down the leg facing the wind. Of course, tomorrow the wind will probably blow a different direction but I can move my bungy-jug if I need to.

Sales were good for a change even tho it was Friday. I sold the hitch-haul that I've been carting around. I have had a bunch of cuff links that wouldn't sell. I had them down to $1.00/set. I put them on the 50 cent table and said that was each cuff link - they are gone. I sold 12 paper backs and a couple of glass nail files. I saw those in a shop in Fredericksburg and then found them wholesale on ebay and bought a bunch. So if Friday was this good I have high hopes for Saturday.

More dealers are coming in. Some of them can't get here by Friday. Sat. is the big day anyway. There was no one on either side of me and some people cut thru that gap. Sure hope someone comes to set up and block people from doing that.

Of course the wind blew and the dust flew. I hope it blows the dust off before I have to pack up on Sunday night. Yeah, like that could happen.

Texas Trade Days

All set up and ready to go in the morning. Just need to hang up the jackets and shirts and uncover the tables. I have a 50 cent table with a bunch of paper back books on it and other odds and ends that need to go. I took a shower this afternoon using their shower house. I have made tomorrow's lunch. The weather is supposed to be in the 60's and 70's with no rain all week-end. As you can see I am on a corner spot but have their electric and water hooks ups in my space. I still have plenty of room and have high hopes for a few sales.

Guess who ate his supper tonight? Everyone needs a dog who has tantrums and pouts. He refused to sleep on the bed last night, like that hurt my feelings, and gave me dirty looks all day. But tonight he didn't lunge at the chickens and other animals nearby. He tried to walk slow enough for me to keep up , he is making an effort part of the time. I tried to praise his efforts.

Toto continues to be proud of going potty outdoors. Red joins me in disciplining Scoobie, even Silly loses patience sometimes with his picking on her.

Forgot to call the post office and harrass them today. I'll have to remember to do that tomorrow.

Texas

This is the grocery store where I shopped this morning. Not a big selection here but enough for me. It's nice to be able to shop and put the groceries away while still in the parking lot. Of course, dog treats were on the list and the box got checked out immediately.

Next it was on to the Wash & Fold to do the laundry. Awww - clean sheets tonight.

There was nothing at the post office. I'm not going to check it for a few days. They claim they keep General Delivery for 30 days. We will see.

I have changed parking spots. I had a little trouble getting level, the front is still a little low. Hope the frig runs ok. Out the front window there are cows and horses and an occasional chicken to be seen. Scoobie wants one. He couldn't eat his supper tonight he was so upset that he couldn't have one. He will be hungry tomorrow night. I refuse to beg a healthy dog to eat. Maybe if I offered pecans? Right!

Maybe some of those chickens will lay some eggs nearby. The price of eggs is way high around here. $2.20 a dozen for large. That makes scrambled eggs a gourmet dish.

It's supposed to be cold tonight, in the 30's. I'll be glad 3 of the dogs sleep on the bed with me. Silly is too big and she doesn't like it anyway. Toto caught onto sleeping on the bed real fast. They jockey for position. Red gets the top by my head and Scoobie pouts for a while then gets down by my feet. Toto takes the other side of my feet or maybe a little higher. That makes it tricky if I get up during the night. When I get home I am getting a full size bed to replace the single I've been using.

Scoobie is sitting in the front passenger seat whimpering while watching cows.

Texas

Another warm pleasant day today. Lots of dog walks. Scoobie had a bad evening last night. He had a stomach ache from that pecan he ate. He couldn't find a comfortable position and kept wanting to go outside where he tried to eat grass. I finally gave him an aspirin and a small treat and that seemed to help as he settled down for the night. Today there was a very bad odor being ejected from someone (not me) and I suspect it was Scoobie. Tonight he ate his supper. None of this being sick slowed him down one bit on the walks. He still keeps trying to get ahead of everyone and sniff everything first, then mark on it while Red is sniffing it. She doesn't learn very fast either.

Toto caught on real quick about no going potty in the RV but he has been trying to hide the fact that he goes at all, even outside. Yesterday I managed to catch him peeing and praised him a great deal (something like a Mardi Gras party). Today he went proudly and wanted more praise. This is working. I had to go through the same thing with Silly years ago. She still wants praise when she goes.

I called the local post office today, they had no mail for me. I called Ohio Dept. of Transportation. They have received my license plate sticker back and will resend it Friday. Why not till Friday I do not know. It should get here the middle of next week. We will see.

Tomorrow has got to be laundry and grocery day. If I wait long enough there is no decision to be made.

This evening I got energetic and made some pecan pancakes. Had scrambled eggs and pancakes for supper. Now I have a stash of pancakes for other days.

It is starting the sprinkle. We are supposed to get thunder storms tonight and be cooler tomorrow. A good day to spend at the laundromat reading a who-done-it book.

Texas

BOOHOO! I've been a Patriots fan since about 1967 when they were the Boston Patriots. I've cheered when they almost made a first down - the only opportunity to cheer in the whole game. So I'm not a fair weather fan. As the saying goes - on any given day, any team .........

I liked the Budweiser dalmation commercial. Some of them I forgot to watch as I was busy with pecans and usually commercials are the time to get something else done. Shame on me.

Shame on me also for leaving the dishpan of pecans where Scoobie could get one this morning. No other dog bothered with them, just the wild-child dog. This afternoon his stomach sounded like he had swallowed a bear and when he looked anxiously at the door I took him out. He got rid of some of it at both ends but he wouldn't eat supper tonight so I don't think the crises is over. I found several pieces of shell on the floor so he didn't swallow it all. Can a dog's stomach digest pecan shells? I didn't think anyone wanted to see a picture of a dog being sick so no pictures tonight.

Tomorrow will be a trip to the dreaded POST OFFICE to see if my webcam has arrived. I may also do some laundry - or not - depending on the weather. There is no doubt that I am a redneck according to Jeff Foxworthy. He says "if you've ever vacuumed your bed you might be a redneck". My sheets need laundering after dogs have made my bed a few times. But if it's going to rain tomorrow wouldn't it be wise to wait one more day so they stay clean longer?

Oh, the decisions we retirees must make.

Super Bowl Sunday

Toto, that name seems to be sticking, got a light colored bandanna due to the fact that he becomes invisible in the dark. I have almost stepped on him twice and Red jumped off the bed onto him last night. I will be looking for a neon colored collar when I find a pet store. He continues to be no problem, he doesn't let anyone push him around which is a good thing. I forgot to mention that he didn't get carsick on our trip yesterday. I gave him a benedril pill in the morning and at noon. I'm so glad I asked the vet what to do.

I got a new battery operated carbon monoxide alarm and installed it over the hole left by the other one. It almost covered everything except for one little hole. I can live with that. This one runs on its own battery and won't start screaming just because the RV battery is low.

Today was vacuum out the RV day after a day at the beach. Tonight is watch the superbowl game and pick out pecans. Go New England.

P.S. If there are mispelled words it's because the spell check isn't working.

The Seashore

The Texas gulf seashore that we found only 20 miles away. Its not a fancy sandy beach but it is relaxing to watch and good exercise to take a walk. There is a lot of gravel and broken shells on it.
We were taking a walk and I was looking for things to pick up when Scoobie made his escape. First I said "@#%#@", then I said "oh well" as he became a dot on the horizon. I called him and we continued our walk in the direction he went. He stopped and checked on us a few times. Eventually we turned back toward the RV and he followed. He really is a good dog and I didn't yell at him when he came back, in fact I patted and praised him and gave them all a bisquit.

As you can see treasures were few and far between. In fact I realized the black and white thing at the top left is a bit of pavement. The pink glob top right is barnicles and the green, white and brown things are bits of glass ground down by the ocean until they looks like gems. I wonder how long that takes? Maybe someone with a rock polisher could tell me. I saw a TV show about a woman in California who makes jewelry out of beach glass.

We took several walks and had lunch then walked some more. Being Sat. there were several cars coming and going and I began to feel in their way. I was afraid to drive too far along the beach as I'm so big and heavy. My road service isn't good if I'm off-road and I sure didn't want to get stuck. So we left about 2:00 p.m. I think we will all sleep well tonight.

When we got home Silly decided to make her bed in MY bed. She dug out the pillow and arranged it all to suit her.

Then she checked the view, I swear she is grinning.

Then she took her nap.
This is a 10 second video of something along the road on the way home. It's what makes the world get around. Texas Tea in the making.

Texas

Today I washed dishes but only because I ran out of silverware (I use paper plates). While I was at it I cleaned a venetian blind behind the stove. Yuck, I hate cleaning venetian blinds. I think when I cook on the stove top I should put that blind up after this so it doesn't get spotted with food spatter.

I called Ohio Dept. of Transportation, they have not received my license plate sticker back yet. When they do they said they will resend it. If it hasn't shown up by the 13th they will issue another one. AAARRRG.

Some of the ground dried up today and with careful planning I could walk around without squishing.

The first of the month is heart worm pill day. Thankfully they make those things taste good. The only challange is making sure each one gets their own pill and gets it down before another one grabs it. I tried giving the dogs pieces of carrot for a treat today. I haven't done that since I had Scoobie and Toto. Scoobie took a while to decide it was edible but then liked it fine. Toto didn't eat his. He kept looking at the other dogs as if they were nuts to be eating theirs. I finally divided his up between the other dogs. Maybe next time he'll get the idea.

After watching the weather reports I have decided to take a jaunt to the coast tomorrow. That means giving Toto a car sick pill first thing in the morning and hoping he does okay. I have been told he will get over it but he hasn't yet.

It is Mardi Gras and that is a big deal around here. I'm afraid the whole thing offends me. It's like people have to act goofy and have a party now because we are going to have to be good for while. That must be the puritan heritage in me. How about a parade and celebration on Easter?

After being tied to the RV and watching the other dogs take a walk a few times, Scoobie is trying to do better - sometimes. Someone here at the RV park said he looks like an Airdale so I looked up Airdales on the internet and found they are high energy active dogs. I asked the rescue place for a "couch potato" dog so they recommend Scoobie. They lied. I have considered giving him back to them when I get home. We will see. He really is fine inside and doesn't run off if he gets out. It just seems to be the leash that he has a problem with. If he isn't pulling to the front, he is pulling to the side and lungeing at anything that moves, constantly searching for something moving. I have been trying some of the hints Linda (of the Affenpinscher Rescue) gave me and maybe they are helping. I enter and leave the RV first and make the dogs wait until I say they can enter or leave. I give him a private lesson on the leash. When he lunges I turn around and go the other way, quickly - which sometimes pulls him off his feet.

Enough about dogs, I'm sure all my friends with cats are sick of hearing about them.

Maybe I'll get some pictures of the ocean tomorrow.
